Yin and Restorative Yoga Techniques for Teachers

Weekend Immersion at The Yoga Spot, Aberdeen

Saturday 7th March: 10 am- 5 pm & Sunday 8th March: 10 am – 5 pm

Immerse yourself in a relaxing and informative weekend of yin and restorative yoga.

On the Saturday we will develop our understanding of yin yoga for our own personal practice and to share with our students. There will be a posture workshop, followed by a talk on the meridians and the 5-element theory in relation to yin yoga. We will also cover the sequencing of yin postures and how we can adapt the poses and offer alternatives and variations for our students, to make the practice as accessible as possible.

Everyone will have the chance to try out the postures in pair work and there will be plenty of time for questions.

On the Sunday we will focus on the deeply relaxing practice of restorative yoga. We will begin by experiencing the practice ourselves and we will go on to break down each pose, learning how to use props to support the body in each posture. We will also look at different ways to use the props for different people in a general class setting. We will discuss sequencing, length of time in the postures and other practicalities of teaching restorative yoga.

The course will give you the tools to deepen your own yin/restorative practice and to introduce a yin/restorative element to your general classes and with your 1-2-1 students.

The course is suitable for anyone who has completed their 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and has an interest in Yin and Restorative Yoga.

Melissa Corazon will be leading this training. Melissa is a Senior Yoga Teacher (Yoga Alliance UK) and has extensive experience practicing and teaching Yin and Restorative Yoga and has studied with Judith Hanson Lasater and Donna Farhi. Melissa has a Masters Degree in Psychology and a background in Dance. She graduated as a Yoga Teacher in Rishikesh, India in 2010 and has continued to travel, work and study around the World as a teacher, student and vegetarian chef. Her focus is on a gentle, nourishing practice that enables her students to tune into their own bodies and work at their own pace.
